Playing with Shutter Speed

I'm still playing with my new flash. Typically when using a flash, the exposure would use a 1/60 of a second shutter speed (the amount of time the lens is open to record the image).

In the first picture, I left it at this default. While 1/60th is a relatively long exposure, it's quick enough to capture the drool..

In the second picture I adjusted the exposure to be a full second. (I have a bit of an obsession with long exposures and using every bit of available light.) This is done with the flash still firing so it gives a bit of a unique effect.
